WYFF 4 reports that Connor Richardson, a Coastal Carolina University graduate, has returned to South Carolina to perform as "Johnny" in the Broadway musical adaptation of "The Notebook," kicking off a five-night run at Greenville's Peace Center.
"It's a bit surreal for me to be here, honestly, because throughout my entire Coastal experience, I had a bunch of friends from Greenville, and this is like the place to see shows in South Carolina," Richardson said.
The musical is based on the best-selling novel that inspired the iconic film, which was shot in part in South Carolina.
Richardson, a Nashville, Tennessee, native, graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2024, then moved to New York to pursue a lifelong dream of performing in Broadway productions.
"I got signed with my agency and moved up to New York three days after graduation and was auditioning for the whole entire year until I booked this in April of 2025, and now here we are in Greenville," Richardson said.
"This was like my first dream, and I idolized those people who were, like, bringing these big Broadway shows to these different cities, and see the country and travel around."Heather Chamberlain, vice president of marketing for the Peace Center, highlighted the venue's experience in hosting big-name Broadway shows like "The Notebook.""We have been doing entertainment for 35 years here at the Peace Center, so you can imagine we have learned how to put on amazing productions on the stage," Chamberlain said.
