Bennettsville police investigate after automatic weapon fire reported

WMBF News reports that BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - An investigation is underway after automatic weapon fire was reported in a Pee Dee city.

The Bennettsville Police Department is investigating reports of occupants in a black Dodge Charger firing what officers say appeared to be a fully automatic weapon in the area of Beauty Spot Road and Jefferson Street.

Police say the shooting placed residents, motorists, and families at risk.

Officers say they are pursuing leads and conducting additional patrols as the investigation continues.
