WYFF 4 reports that Deputies in Stephens County, Georgia say a wanted man fled a motel, leading to a drug bust and new charges for two people.In early May, the Stephens County Sheriff's Office reported that they began receiving tips regarding 23-year-old Joseph Lee Williams using and distributing illegal drugs, specifically methamphetamine.Officials say Williams was already wanted in Stephens County on a probation warrant and was actively avoiding law enforcement by frequently changing locations.On Wednesday, law enforcement received information that Williams was staying at Toccoa Motel in Toccoa, Georgia, however, when units responded to the motel at around 1 a.m.

on Thursday, Williams fled on foot.Later on Thursday, investigators reported that Williams had been picked up and taken to an apartment in Gainesville, Georgia.With the assistance of multiple agencies, deputies were able to locate and capture Williams at the apartment without incident.

Deputies returned to Williams' motel room where they uncovered 10.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine, two Adderall pills, and other drug-related paraphernalia including syringes and a digital scale.Further investigation identified 19-year-old Jasmine Jones as having been with Williams in the room and involved in the illegal activities.

At the time of Williams' arrest, Jones was already in the custody of the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office following a vehicle pursuit the previous day.Both Williams and Jones are facing new charges in Stephens County for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine and possession of Schedule II controlled substance.The investigation remains ongoing, and further drug-related charges are pending.Deputies ask that if you have information regarding the distribution of illeg...
