WIS News 10 reports that (WIS) - Columbiana Centre announced a temporary youth curfew for guests 17 and under this Friday, May 29.

The mall calls the plan a Parental Guidance Required (PGR) program in response to recent social media activity indicating the potential for “disruptive, unsupervised gatherings.” “PGR is intended to help provide a safe, peaceful experience at our shopping center for all guests,” Columbiana Centre said in a statement.

“While only temporary, PGR was not something we’ve entered lightly, and we hope to not need to implement this on a regular or full-time basis.” According to the center, starting at 5 p.m., all guests 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or supervising adult who is 21 or older while at the mall.

Trained public safety officers will be stationed at all mall entrances to verify identification for guests who appear to be under 18.

Guests who cannot provide a valid ID showing they are at least 18 must be accompanied by a supervising adult to stay at the shopping center.

One adult may accompany up to four youths and must remain with them at all times while in the center.
