Yahoo Sports reports that Bayern Munich’s transfer window has started with disappointment, as primary transfer target Anthony Gordon has signed for FC Barcelona.
The transfer fee is said to be around 80 million euros all in, a fee that would have made the 25-year-old Englishman the joint second most expensive transfer in the Bavarians’ history.
The Englishman bring a lot of qualities that would have been a real boon to the Bavarians, but would his role have been important enough to warrant that kind of expenditure?
That is the mindset Bayern and board member for sport Max Eberl enter the transfer window with.
The starting lineup is excellent and the bench contains multiple strong backup players.
The situation allows for Bayern to choose quality over quantity, which is perhaps why Eberl insists Bayern will not be too active in the transfer window: “We will take further steps and restructure the squad without being radical,” the former Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director explained (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
